John Johnston is highly experienced in the commercial real estate industry with a career spanning almost five decades. With a passion for commercial real estate development, John has been involved in all aspects of the field, including construction, property management, national retail, site development, and brokerage.

John started his career in 1972, gaining invaluable expertise in various roles within the industry. His early experiences included working with such firms such as Colliers and the Hardman Group. In 2003, John took a leap and became self-employed, focusing primarily on-site development for commercial properties such as Eastpoint Shopping.  John also served as the Vice President of Store Planning and Real Estate for a prominent retail company, Shoppers Drug Mart.

His in-depth knowledge and extensive experience have contributed significantly to the commercial real estate landscape in Moncton and the Maritimes. John’s expertise covers every facet of the industry, making him a versatile and valuable professional advisor. His strong background in shopping center business gives him a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in retail real estate.

In addition to his professional achievements, John has made a significant impact through his volunteer work. He has been an active member of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), where he played a key role in organizing regional workshops and conferences across the Maritimes. His dedication to the industry is further exemplified by his further volunteer involvement with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), where he has served in various organizing positions, including serving as the Retail Chair, Executive Director, and ambassador for Atlantic Canada.

Outside of his professional endeavors, John has a range of interests and hobbies. He has a passion for dance and has performed in the national ballet and on notable performances such as the Nutcracker across all major stages in New Brunswick including the Playhouse in Fredericton, Capitol Theatre in Moncton, and the Imperial Theatre in Saint John. In his leisure time, John enjoys fly fishing and horseback riding, allowing him to find solace in nature.
